L80-1Cr (1% chromium) and L80-3Cr (3% chromium) are intermediate chromium grades in the API 5CT L80 family, designed for wells with moderate CO₂ partial pressure where full L80-13Cr would be over-specified. The 1–3% Cr addition meaningfully improves CO₂ corrosion resistance compared to carbon-steel L80 Type 1, while keeping material cost well below 13Cr grades.
The ZC-2 connection is ZC Steel Pipe's proprietary metal-to-metal seal premium connection equivalent to VAMTOP in geometry, dimensional interface, and sealing mechanism. It provides: - Gas-tight metal-to-metal seal — a torque shoulder and two positive seal surfaces eliminate thread-compound reliance in high-pressure gas - Full-bore ID — flush internal profile minimises flow restriction and permits wireline tools to pass without restriction - Stabbing guide compatibility — standard OD shoulder geometry allows conventional running equipment
This combination — L80-1Cr/3Cr body with ZC-2 connection — targets wells with mild-to-moderate corrosion and premium sealing requirements, at materially lower cost than a 13Cr/premium-connection solution. ZC Steel Pipe supplies L80 sub-grades in R1, R2, and R3 with ZC-2 or other proprietary connections for South American and Middle Eastern operators.
