Casing & Tubing Dimensional Lookup

Select a product type, outside diameter, and nominal weight to retrieve wall thickness, inside diameter, drift diameter, and weight per metre. Data is extracted directly from API 5CT 11th edition (December 2023) Table C.18 (casing) and Table C.19 (tubing).

Select Size

Grade availability: Standard API 5CT grades H40 through Q125 are listed for casing; J55, N80-1, L80-1, P110, and Q125 are common for tubing. Exact grade/size combinations that can be ordered are defined in API 5CT Table C.30 — confirm with your mill before ordering.

How to read the results

  • OD — specified outside diameter per API 5CT.
  • Wall thickness — specified minimum wall. Actual delivered wall must be ≥ 87.5% of this value (API 5CT tolerance).
  • ID (nominal) — OD minus two wall thicknesses. Actual ID varies within tolerance.
  • Drift diameter (casing only) — minimum clear bore after drifting. A standard API drift mandrel must pass through without obstruction. Short-radius (SR13) drift is smaller — confirm with your connection supplier.
  • Nominal weight (T&C) — unit weight including threads and coupling. Used for string weight and buoyancy calculations.
  • Plain-end weight (Wpe) — pipe body weight only, without thread or coupling. Used for coating estimating and transportation.

Chromium grade weight correction

Martensitic chromium grades (L80-9Cr and L80-13Cr) have a slightly lower density than plain carbon steel. API 5CT specifies a correction factor of 0.989: multiply the nominal weight shown above by 0.989 to obtain the actual weight for these grades.
